Emergency Service
What constitutes an appliance emergency?
Emergencies include: refrigerator or freezer not cooling (food safety risk), gas leaks or gas smell from range, water leaking from appliances causing damage, or any situation posing immediate safety concerns.
How quickly can you respond to emergencies?
We prioritize emergency calls and strive to respond within hours when possible. Our emergency line is staffed to handle urgent situations outside normal business hours.
Is there an additional charge for emergency service?
Emergency service outside normal business hours may incur additional charges. We will always inform you of any additional costs before dispatching a technician.
What should I do if my refrigerator stops cooling?
Keep doors closed as much as possible to maintain temperature. A full freezer stays frozen for about 48 hours; a full refrigerator maintains safe temperature for about 4 hours. Call us immediately to schedule emergency service.
What should I do if I smell gas from my range?
If you smell gas, turn off the appliance immediately if safe to do so. Do not operate electrical switches. Open windows to ventilate. If the smell is strong, leave the house and call your gas company first, then call us once the immediate danger is addressed.
Maintenance
How often should I have my refrigerator serviced?
We recommend annual professional maintenance for luxury refrigerators. In Arizona, condenser coil cleaning should be done quarterly due to dust accumulation. Regular maintenance extends appliance life and maintains efficiency.
How often should I clean my Sub-Zero condenser coils?
In Arizona's dusty environment, we recommend cleaning Sub-Zero condenser coils quarterly rather than the typical annual schedule. Dust accumulation significantly impacts cooling efficiency and can lead to compressor strain.
Do you offer maintenance programs?
Yes, we offer maintenance programs that include regular service visits, priority scheduling, and discounts on repairs. Contact us for details about protecting your appliance investment.
How often should I replace my refrigerator water filter?
Typically every 6 months, but in Phoenix area with hard water, every 3-4 months may be necessary for optimal water quality and ice production. Watch for reduced water flow or ice production as signs the filter needs replacement.
What maintenance can I do myself?
Homeowners can clean condenser coils (with proper care), replace water filters, clean door gaskets, and keep appliances clean. However, any repair involving refrigerant, gas lines, or electrical components should be left to professionals.
Troubleshooting
My refrigerator is running constantly - is this normal?
During Arizona summers, increased run time is normal as the compressor works harder in extreme heat. However, truly constant running (never cycling off) may indicate dirty condenser coils, door seal issues, or thermostat problems. If it runs non-stop, schedule service.
Why is my ice maker producing less ice?
Common causes include clogged water filter, low water pressure, high freezer temperature, or ice maker component failure. In Arizona, hard water scale buildup can also reduce production. Try replacing the water filter first.
My Sub-Zero is showing an error code - what does it mean?
Sub-Zero error codes (EC followed by numbers) indicate specific issues. Common codes include EC 50 (communication error), EC 40 series (sensor issues), EC 30 series (fan problems), and EC 20 series (compressor issues). Contact us with the specific code for diagnosis.
Why won't my Wolf range burner ignite?
Common causes include wet igniter from cleaning, clogged burner ports, misaligned burner cap, or failed igniter. Try drying the area thoroughly and checking cap alignment. If clicking continues without ignition, service is needed.
My dishwasher isn't cleaning well - what can I do?
Check and clean the filter, ensure spray arms can rotate freely, use appropriate detergent and rinse aid, run hot water before starting, and don't overload. If problems persist, there may be pump or water temperature issues requiring service.
Arizona Climate
How does Arizona heat affect my appliances?
Extreme heat (often 110°F+) makes refrigeration systems work much harder, potentially increasing runtime by 30-40%. This accelerates wear on compressors and other components. Proper maintenance and adequate ventilation are essential in our climate.
Does the monsoon season affect appliances?
Yes, monsoon season brings three main challenges: power surges from lightning, sudden humidity increases, and dust storms that can coat condenser coils. Surge protection and post-storm maintenance are important.
How does hard water in Phoenix affect my appliances?
Phoenix has very hard water (200-300 ppm), which causes scale buildup in ice makers, dishwashers, coffee machines, and steam ovens. This requires more frequent descaling and filter changes than in other regions.
Should I clean condenser coils more often in Arizona?
Yes, we recommend quarterly condenser coil cleaning in Arizona versus the annual cleaning typical elsewhere. Desert dust accumulates quickly and significantly impacts cooling efficiency, especially during summer.
I'm a snowbird - how should I prepare my appliances when leaving?
You have options: leave refrigerators running at slightly higher temperatures with doors closed, or turn them off, clean thoroughly, and leave doors slightly ajar. Turn off water to ice makers. We recommend a professional check before summer if leaving during peak heat.
Can outdoor kitchen appliances survive Arizona summers?
Outdoor-rated appliances can survive but need extra attention. Provide shade when possible, maintain more frequently, check for heat damage before summer, and consider covering units when not in use. Indoor-rated appliances should not be used outdoors.
